No County Government

About half of the counties in the state of MA no longer exist. The counties are there for reference, but the government has been taken away. All the functions of defunked county governement have either gone to state offices or to regional offices. That last term sounds very similar to "county government"... THis is why I am having trouble finding county government sites. If you type in Alameda County California into a search engine, you'll easily find co.alameda.ca.us (plus all the Ws).... I'm shocked yet fascinated.
