DVDs and Food
Since my last post, there isn't much new. I'm still trying to find employment and not be upset over the lack thereof. Also, I'm trying to not be upset with Mom as she has no control over her situation and pain...
During the weekend, I was successful at two things 1) cooking two Indian dishes, and 2) finally getting Phillip hooked on "Twin Peaks".
While the details of my Indian food could be posted in the food blog, I'm just being lazy and typing it here. I made a chicken curry and a meatball curry. They both turned out spicy, and everyone (me, Phillip, Dad, KT) didn't mind it except Mom. Fortunately, I over-purchased on the chicken and decided to bake a few pieces with some Mrs. Dash's chicken seasoning instead. That, people, made Mom happy. I had also purchased some mangoes and made rice. Dad brought home some nan from the restaurant by his work, and it was a good meal. For dessert, we had some ice cream and sundae topping; a very cooling and sweet ending to our meal.
This weekend, I was happy to find that Phillip really does like the "Twin Peaks". I think his lukewarm interest was due to being tired and not paying full attention to the earlier episodes. He's looking forward to a marathon or two to finish off the series. Yea! Another person converted to the dark side...
Oh, speaking of The Force, I have to rant. The Spike channel has been playing the Star Wars movies. Last weekend, it was Episodes 1, 2, and 3. Yesterday, I caught the end of Episode 3 where they're fighting on the lava world and Darth Vader becomes complete (which is the only part worth seeing of the new triology) and it got me wanting to watch the original series. I popped in Episode 4, "Star Wars: A New Hope", and I was disappointed. I'd forgotten that my DVDs were the newer versions of the series. All the stupid add-ins and the whole Jabba scene with Han are just bad and stick out like a sore thumb. It's too bad that my VHS tapes of the series had died. They were the good versions where the only "enhancements" were a clean-up with extra color and a little dazzle during the explosions. Why has George Lucas screwed everything up? THe new scenes, the first three movies (aka the prequels), and, most of all, his own story line.... ggrrrr!

I don't know if you're still checking for a reply to your comment, but I have noticed something....
The "remastered" version of Empire Strikes Back isn't tooooo awful. The biggest differences are more lighting to the cave with the snow monster, and to the look of Cloud City.
A New Hope has a ton of changes, and ending to Return of the Jedi really, really, really bothers me. It's awful! He changed the music, added all the scenes from around the universe, and added in the ghost of the kid from the new movies as the dad.... no bueno.
