Mom's Still There

Mom update...

Her surgery on May 1st went well. The doctor took only 3hrs to take out the bad knee and to insert a cement block of medicine. She won't be getting a new knee until all infection is gone from the knee area (cuz that's why the last one was bad and didn't heal correctly).

Mom was supposed to be released today, but the doctors have increased her IV antibiotics, so it'll be a few more days until she can think about coming home.

Because it's Mom's birthday today, Dad took the day off work to spend it with her. I'll be going over to Stanford later, as will Katie, to visit and to spread a little cheer... I'm thinking a lone balloon that says "Happy Birthday" (which will be tied to a chair away from all the machines) and a bowl of strawberries (w/ cookies? in pastry cups? just by themselves?) will be a nice treat that won't totally kill her wonderful, analyzed, hospital-food diet.
