Columbia, CA

On Saturday, Dad and I took the girls to Columbia, CA. It's an Old West town. You get to see some of the old buildings, pan for gold, learn some history, and, in the case of the girls, pet some chickens. The chickens were special as they were black and white and huge. The park ranger was feeding them when we came along. The chickens were the same breed that the gold prospectors brought with them to CA. For more info on the town:

After a little bit of the old west, we headed to Moaning Caverns. They're not too far away and were a big disappointment to us adults. Not worth the ticket price. You just go down, like, 300 stairs to the bottom of a large cave and the tour guide points out stuff. No walking, no tours, no nothin'. We got to watch some people repel down into the cave, but that's it. You get to climb around for the non-family-friendly tour, but it was pricy and out of our age-range.

We brought the little ones home with us and they spent the night. Sunday morning we had a late birthday breakfast for Tracy. We all hung out for a while and then they left. It was a quiet day.
