Painting with Fire

Huntington Lake, CA
June 25-27, 2010
Phillip and I went camping with Tia Luisa and Debbie. The pictures are from an art project.
OK, so, they posted backwards, but you get the point. You take pottery, cover it in burnable materials, and make a really, really, really hot fire. The materials create colors; copper gives a nice red color, salt from seaweed or the peanut shells or the rock salt w/ lemon gives some green. The colors aren't too dark right after the fire is out, but they get darker as time passes. According to Debbie and Tia, the pottery has some really great colors now. :>) On top of that, Tia Luisa has waxed the pottery. We're looking forward to seeing the finished products!
